If your performance is weak in one test, you can do better in other tests. But in screening you will get only one chance to show your ability. It is a “DO or GO Home” situation. And everybody can understand the feeling of going back on day 1 even without being tested. So you must prepare for the screening and it should be your first aim at selection centre. As we talk about the screening tests, there are 2 parts:

1. Intelligence tests

2. PPD&T (Picture perception & Discussion test)

How to Pass Screening :Intelligence Tests

Intelligence tests are simple aptitude test. These tests are there just to check your speed, accuracy and ability to analyze situations and figures.
Important points about Intelligence test:

1. Do practice from some aptitude book.
2. Don’t ask the testing officer about the marking scheme. He/She will not answer this question ever. You just try to attempt maximum questions in both the booklets (Because there is No negative marking)
3. Keep in mind the time limit because you will not be allowed to bring any kind of watch inside the testing hall. So do practice in same time limit.
4. You are not allowed to write anything on the question booklet.
5. Listen to instructions about cutting and changing answers.
6. If you have any doubt, then clear it before the starting of test. During the test they will not even reply to any question or query.
7. Don’t waste your time on a question you are feeling difficult to solve.

8. Keep a postitive attitude towards this whole process only when you will be able to give you best input.

How to Get Screen in : PPD&T (Picture Perception & Discussion Test)

Now we will talk about the 2nd test i.e. PPD&T (Picture Perception & Discussion Test). It is a very simple test. All the candidates will sit in a big hall. There will be a big projector screen. A hazy picture will be shown to you for 30 seconds and then you will get approximate 4 minutes to write a story on it. You have to use your imagination power for writing this story.
Important points about PPD&T:

1. Write a positive story and try to reflect yourself in the story.
2. The basic method to write a story – take example from your own life events, relate them to the picture and write a simple story based on it.
3. Complete the story well in time. Avoid writing unnecessary details because the length of story doesn’t matter. The only thing matter is basic idea of your story.
4. Don’t use phrase like – Ram was a good boy, He was a nice player, she was a good speaker etc. Try to reflect these things from the story and action.
5. Don’t forget to write number of characters, age, sex, mood and action in the rectangle box provided on top corner of answer sheet.
6. Speak loud and clear during discussion.
7. If you are not comfortable in English language, speak in Hindi or mixture of two.
8. Give points in favour of your story.
9. Don’t bother if your story is totally different from rest of the group. It is a test of imagination and everybody has different imagination power.
10. If you were not able to write complete story on answer sheet, narrate the complete story.
11. Don’t change your story completely in the narration from the one you have written in answer sheet. e.g. if you have written a story on a sports event then in narration, don’t make it a story of picnic. If you do so, it give a wrong impression to the Testing officer.

By following these simple instructions, you can cross the first hurdle of SSB.
