Indian armed forces are trying out New SSB Interview Process to get updated as per new job requirements, changing environment, war methods. Defence research development origination working to change SSB Interview Process to eliminate some of the limitations of old process. Main reason for SSB Interview Process Changed is the 5 days long testing period.
Ministry wants a short method to select officers for Armed Forces. They want New SSB Interview Procedure so that more number of candidates are get testing for becoming officer. Another reason of SSB Interview Process Changed is the better assessment of aspirants. As per news, New SSB Interview Process will be tested till 2024 at various SSB Boards. if this new officer selection system gets approval, it will be implemented in 2025 at SSB Boards.

- Number of batches being tested by SSB Board is limited (approx. 70/year).
- Number of candidates appearing/Applying for defence forces is increasing days by day.
- It’s hard to managed expense of such large of candidates appearing for SSB Interview. Hence cost cutting is also a reason.
- Lack of officers in Indian Armed forces.
- Selection Rate is very less (Approx. 2-3 %).
- Process is not transparent.
- Requirement for new generation war methods.
- Old SSB Interview process is adopted from US army. They have changed their selection process as per new needs & demands. Ministry feels the need to be up-to-date with latest & effective selection methods.

Candidates those are preparing for some SSB interview or written should not worry. SSB Interview Process changed but only for testing purpose. At present this selection is done purely on the basis of old SSB Interview Procedure.
Complete change of SSB Interview Process will not take place before full satisfaction. That’s the reason, new selection process is undergoing various effectiveness tests.
