METHOD OF SELECTION : AFMS MEDICAL OFFICER

All the candidates those filled form correctly and within allowed time period will be considered for stage 1. This is called shortlisting. This will be done on marks basis. Candidates will be placed in order of merit on the basis of their marks in NEET PG entrance examination. For this their PG entrance marks will be proportionately converted to 200 marks. Then upto 08 times of the number of vacancies times candidates get interview call. You must keep in mind that, there will be separate merit list for male and female candidates for interview stage.
Candidates those get interview call will have to attend next stage at the Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt. This will be conducted by a Board of Officers in the month of Aug / Sep 2024. The aspirants appearing for interview for the 1st time will get to and fro travel allowance (3rd AC railway/bus fare)
Candidates those pass interview stage, have to attend next stage of selection process i.e. Medical Examination. This will be conducted by Special Medical Examination Board (SMB) constituted by the DGAFMS as per defence standards. This process is very confidential. Not much information is available in public domain. However, candidates those get declared ‘UNFIT’ by the Special Medical Board (SMB), need not to take much tension. He or she may apply for the Appeal Medical Board (AMB). If you get unfit, President of Special Medical Board will explain you whole procedure.
Candidates must understand that DGAFMS/DG-1A has no role to play in Appeal Medical Boards (AMB) and the procedure advised by the medical authorities is strictly followed.
The Candidates declared ‘UNFIT’ by the AMB may apply for the Review Medical Board (RMB). However, Review Medical Board (RMB) will be granted at the discretion of the DGAFMS based on the merits of the case. No representation in this regard will be entertained. Candidates will be considered medically ‘FIT’ only on receipt of approved medical documents.
Female candidates need to read next point with extra care. In their case if pregnancy is detected at any of the stage (pre/ post interview/ pre-commission Medical Examination) the candidate will be declared ‘TEMPORARILY UNFIT’.
Armed Forces Medical Services Merit List
All candidates those score more than 50% marks will qualify in the viva/interview and then have to face medical examination immediately after the interview. Then separate merit lists of both male and female candidates will be created. One point to be noted that this list will be made by adding the NEET PG marks (after prorating them out of a maximum of 200 marks) and marks obtained in viva-voce (50 marks). At the end Medically FIT candidates shall be
issued joining instructions for commissioning as SSC Officers.
