AFCAT

AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test. AFCAT was started by Indian air force in 2011. It is a common exam for joining the three branches of Indian Air Force i.e. Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branch. It is similar to other aptitude exams like banking exams. It is conducted twice in a year by Indian Air Force.

 

Minimum education qualification required for it is graduation. Graduation final year students can also appear in AFCAT but they have to produce the degree till a prefixed date. After passing AFCAT written exam, candidates will be called for SSB interview at one of the Air Force Selction Boards (AFSBs) at:

1. Dehradun

2. Mysore

3. Gandhinagar or

4. Varansi.

AFACT Selection Process : It consist of 3 stages as given below:

Stage 1. (Screening)

Stage 2. (Psychology + GTO + Interview)

Stage 3. PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) & medical examination.

Two things make AFCAT different from other entries. First thing is that, candidates are provided with a privilege i.e. they can choose out of four above mentioned selection centres and date of SSB interview according to their convince. Second thing is that both male and female candidates can appear in AFCAT.

As the written result is declared candidates have to login with their user name and password in candidate section of www.careerairforce.nic.in. Here they can select center and date out of given time slots.

AFCAT Scheme of Examination

Air Force Common Admission Test written exam consist of a single paper having 100 questions from General Awareness, Numerical Ability, English & Reasoning and Military Aptitude.

After seeing these marks you will get idea of AFCAT selection ratio. Hence we advice you to prepare accordingly. 

Notes :

  • PABT is only for PILOT entry in flying branch.
  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in graduation. Candidates should not have any present backlog.
  • AFCAT Notifications comes in June-July and Sep-Oct.
  • Written exam result is declared within 45 days of conduct of exam.

AFCAT Syllabus

General Awareness: History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Sciences, Defense, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc.

Numerical Ability: Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, and Simple Interest

Verbal Ability in English: Comprehension, Sentence Completion, Error Detection, Antonyms, Synonyms, and Test of Vocabulary etc.

Reasoning and Military Aptitude: Spatial Ability and Verbal Skills.
